Compare the old and new assembly
Ask the installer to confirm dimensions, curb requirements, flashing arrangement, and suitability for the roof conditions. Have the slater identify how many surrounding pieces may need to be removed and reinstated. A matching interior opening does not necessarily mean the exterior roofing connection will remain unchanged.

Coordinate responsibilities
Identify who supplies the skylight, who performs the slate work, and who is responsible for integrating the complete assembly. Confirm availability of matching repair material and the sequence for protecting the opening. Retain the product instructions and photographs of the finished junction. A clear record helps future service work distinguish the skylight unit from the roofing details around it.
