Review the existing arrangement
Ask the gutter contractor and slater to establish how the gutter is supported and how it relates to the eave. Photograph the roof edge before removal. Clarify whether the planned work disturbs any roofing or flashing and who will handle it. A replacement gutter should not be selected only by appearance without considering the actual drainage and support conditions.

Check the finished connection
Request a record of altered details and any roof repairs performed during the work. Confirm that the completed scope includes cleanup and review of affected accessible areas. If old damage becomes visible, document it before covering the area again. Keep gutter and slate records together because a future moisture problem near the eave may require understanding both systems.
