Keep pallets stable and identifiable
Store on firm level ground with labels visible. Do not stack beyond supplier or safety guidance. Keep different colors, sizes, thicknesses and approved replacement stock clearly separated.

Move slate by controlled methods
Use equipment and rigging suitable for the pallet weight. Avoid sudden drops, fork damage and leaning loose pieces where they can slide. Plan roof loading with the structure and safe access in mind.

Protect the sorting process
Create areas for accepted material, cuts, questionable pieces and waste. A disorganized pile invites mixed products, hidden damage and unsuitable pieces being installed in prominent locations.
