Share the existing information
Provide the first report, photographs, repair history, and the reasons given for the proposed work. Ask the second assessor to examine the same roof areas and identify any access limitations. Keep the question specific: for example, whether a particular slope can be repaired or whether a flashing renewal requires a wider opening.

Compare the reasoning
Look at where the assessors agree, what evidence differs, and which uncertainties remain. A different conclusion may result from different access or assumptions, not simply a different opinion about slate. Ask for a written explanation of the recommended scope. Use the comparison to resolve the decision rather than choosing whichever answer is most reassuring without understanding its basis.
