Separate appearance and condition
Ask the assessor to identify which replacements are serviceable and which details need correction. A visually different piece is not automatically a failure, and a matching color does not prove a sound repair. Map large cemented areas, changed course relationships, and altered junctions for closer review where appropriate. Include old repair records if available.

Plan a coherent next step
Request a scope that explains which patches can remain and which should be addressed, with reasons. If visual improvement is part of the project, distinguish it from work needed for performance. Keep records of the corrected areas and replacement material. A methodical assessment can turn a confusing roof into a manageable maintenance plan without assuming every earlier intervention must be undone.
