Discuss access and protection
Inform the chimney contractor that the building has natural slate and ask how the work will be reached. Explain any known roof defects and provide the roofing contractor's contact information if coordination is needed. The access method should protect both workers and the roof rather than assuming slate can be used as a routine walking surface.

Coordinate the junction
If the project affects masonry near flashing, clarify who assesses and restores that connection. A masonry repair and a roof repair may have separate scopes but still meet at the same detail. Photograph the area before and after from safe locations and retain any progress images supplied. If new roof work is needed, have a slater review it before access equipment is removed where practical.
