Coordinate before the work
Tell the tree contractor about the roof material and identify nearby gutters, chimneys, and fragile adjoining structures. Share recent roof photographs if available. Ask how branches and equipment will be kept from contacting the roof. Where work is especially close, discuss whether a roofing contractor should advise on protection or inspect existing concerns first.

Compare afterward
Once the area is safe, photograph the roof from the same ground viewpoints. Report visible changes or debris without climbing onto the slate yourself. If there was known contact or a concern about damage, have a qualified slater assess it. Keep the tree-work date with the roof record so any later problem can be investigated using a clear sequence of events rather than uncertain recollection.
