Begin with the building evidence
Collect the roof's service history, known leaks, photographs, and any professional assessment. Separate confirmed defects from questions that still need investigation. Ask the assessor to explain which roof areas can be maintained, which need repair, and where the evidence supports more extensive work. A committee should not treat age alone as a complete condition diagnosis.

Create one decision route
Name a contact who can consolidate questions for the roofer or designer. Record decisions and the information supporting them, especially when committee membership changes. Agree how worship schedules, access, and building protection will be coordinated. The first deliverable should be a shared understanding of the roof and the next responsible step, not an assumption that every slope needs identical treatment.
