Compare material and setting
Texture, thickness, course size, daylight, surrounding walls, and viewing angle all influence the appearance of a dark roof. Two products called black may also have different visible ranges. Use representative physical samples and photographs of confirmed installations of the proposed selection where available.

Define the desired effect
Decide whether your priority is a smooth uniform impression, strong shadow lines, or visible natural variation. Explain that preference to the supplier instead of relying only on a color word. Evaluate the slate beside the actual wall and metal finishes. Keep the approved range identifiable so later purchasing decisions preserve the intended appearance rather than chasing an exact match to one screen image.
