Record the contents
For each pallet or crate, list the supplier label, slate dimensions, selection, and stated quantity. If mixed sizes are packed together, ask for a packing breakdown. Avoid converting pallet count to roof coverage using a remembered rule from a different shipment.

Reconcile as packages are opened
Track quantities assigned to roof zones and set aside damaged or questionable pieces for review. Keep a separate record of reusable leftovers. If a shortage appears, this inventory helps distinguish an ordering issue from a packaging discrepancy or a changed installation requirement. A count of unopened pallets alone cannot answer those questions once material has moved around the job.
