Look for comparable details
If your project involves a chimney, valley, turret, or historic pattern, ask to see examples of that type of work. Wide views show appearance, but detail and progress photographs explain more about the scope. Ask what portion of the pictured project the contractor actually performed and whether the proposed crew worked on it.

Turn pictures into questions
Ask why particular materials or details were selected and how the finished roof can be maintained. A thoughtful explanation can reveal whether the contractor understands the job beyond its appearance. Do not use a photograph to approve unseen construction or assume a detail transfers unchanged to your building. Keep the discussion tied to your roof's geometry, material, access, and maintenance requirements.
