Review access and protection
Have the responsible scaffold and construction professionals identify supports, clearances, loading arrangements, and protection around slate surfaces. Tell them which roof areas will remain and where roofing work is planned. Owners should not improvise scaffold support on roof coverings.

Coordinate the work sequence
Ask when the slater needs access relative to masonry, window, and painting work. Avoid scheduling the final roof repair before another trade still needs to work across the same area without an agreed protection plan. Keep inspection and handoff points in the schedule. Shared access can be useful when the project team defines how each stage affects the retained roof.
