Match format to roof geometry
Wide pieces suit large uninterrupted slopes. Turrets, narrow dormer cheeks and closely spaced penetrations may generate more cuts and waste than a smaller format.

Protect side-lap planning
Fewer vertical joints do not remove the need for broken bond. Adjust the layout so cut pieces at valleys and walls remain wide enough for secure fastening.

Handle with suitable support
Large slate can be vulnerable during lifting, roof loading and walking. Keep pallets stable, sort on the ground and use access that avoids concentrated pressure.
