Keep a short open-items list
For each unresolved item, record the location, reason it could not be assessed, and proposed next step. Examples include a concealed junction or a roof area beyond the available access. Avoid describing an uninspected area as sound simply because no problem was visible from a distance.

Close items with evidence
When follow-up work occurs, attach the findings and note whether the question was resolved or needs another action. Keep the original entry so the sequence remains understandable. This prevents the next owner or manager from assuming that an unanswered concern disappeared. A transparent record of limitations is often more useful than a brief report that appears complete but leaves its inspection boundaries unclear.
