Ask for the contractor's plan
Discuss delivery, ground storage, lifting, and distribution before material arrives. The contractor and responsible design professionals should address the capacity of any roof, platform, or other structure used for staging. Do not direct crews to stack slate in an attic, on a deck, or at a roof location merely because that area is out of the way.

Coordinate changing conditions
If the delivery sequence or work area changes, review the staging arrangement rather than improvising a new storage point. Keep access routes and occupied entrances available as agreed. Record where retained spare material will remain after completion separately from temporary construction stock. Planning the movement of slate helps the job proceed without treating material weight as an afterthought.
