Record the donor building, removal date where known, dimensions, photographs, and any documented product identification. Distinguish information supplied by a seller from facts independently confirmed. A location of recovery does not necessarily identify the original quarry.

Connect provenance to condition assessment
Have the receiving project's slater assess suitability for the actual use. A compelling history does not establish that every piece is serviceable. Keep assessment and sorting records with the source information, then label the material allocated to each roof area. Useful provenance supports matching and future investigation without becoming an unsupported performance claim.
