Control electrical hazards, collect water and move vulnerable contents. Photograph conditions before disturbance for the owner, contractor and insurer.

Use the least damaging exterior measure
Access may require a lift or staging. Avoid nailing through broad areas of sound slate or smearing cement across faces. Secure temporary protection to stable structure using a planned method.

Schedule permanent repair promptly
Temporary materials can loosen, trap water or conceal worsening conditions. Mark the protected area and provide the next contractor with photographs and a description of attachments.
