Identify the nearby work
Tell the painter where slate roofing, flashings, and delicate trim meet the surfaces being painted. Share any known access restrictions and ask how the roof will be protected from equipment, debris, and overspray. Roof access and protection should be planned by the responsible contractors.

Coordinate vulnerable junctions
If trim repairs expose a roof connection, involve the slater before the painter closes the area. Do not treat covering a joint with paint or sealant as a substitute for reviewing damaged flashing. Keep before-and-after photographs of relevant locations. The purpose is to finish the exterior work without losing track of the roof details it may touch.
