Include the important variables
Ask for enough material to show the approved range of color, texture, thickness, and course relationships. If a particular edge or flashing detail drives the design, discuss including it. Review the sample from an appropriate distance and under useful lighting. Agree beforehand which qualities the mockup is intended to demonstrate and which require separate technical review.

Record approval precisely
Photograph the accepted work and list any changes needed before installation proceeds. Keep the sample available through the project where practical. If later deliveries differ, compare them with the approved range rather than one isolated piece. The mockup should become a shared reference for the owner, designer, supplier, and installer, reducing ambiguity when visual questions arise on the roof.
