Review more than the stone
Ask the designer to show where metal will remain visible and how wide or prominent those areas will appear. Compare samples alongside the slate and wall materials. Discuss expected changes in metal appearance with the supplier and designer rather than assuming the installation-day finish will remain unchanged. Technical suitability and compatibility must be resolved alongside the visual choice.

Coordinate the complete detail
A pleasing finish does not make an unsuitable flashing assembly work. Have the responsible professionals confirm the material, connections, movement provisions, and relationship to adjacent components. Record the accepted selection in drawings and the supplier order. Where replacing only one section of metal, discuss the visual difference from retained pieces so the finished appearance does not become an unexpected issue.
