Sort widths before installation
Inventory the delivered range and group pieces so the crew understands what is abundant or limited. Random does not mean placing widths without regard to adjacent joints or exhausting one size early.

Protect the broken bond
Every course should be checked for joint offset from the courses below. Shift several pieces when necessary rather than inserting a very narrow slate to fix one local conflict.

Control the overall appearance
Draw from multiple pallets and distribute unusual widths. A sample panel helps establish the desired rhythm, joint spacing and tolerance for repeated widths before the most visible elevations are installed.
