Compare values produced under the same recognized method and units. Informal soaking or weighing on site is not equivalent to laboratory sampling and conditioning.

Connect absorption to climate
Moisture in stone can interact with freeze-thaw exposure and mineral composition. Product classification and project suitability should be reviewed for the actual climate rather than reduced to one universal cutoff quoted without context.

Results from one quarry bed or product should not be transferred automatically to visually similar slate. Require current, traceable documentation for the material being proposed.
