Decide what must match now

Use physical comparisons and existing roof examples where available, while recognizing that exposure and age can change the result.

Choose the repair strategy deliberately
For scattered repairs, the installer may have several suitable matching options. For a new addition, the junction between old and new roof areas may need a broader design discussion. Document the accepted difference before work begins. Avoid coatings or artificial aging treatments merely to force a visual match without a qualified assessment of their effect on the slate and future maintenance.
