Replacement slate • Repairs • Restoration

Match the slate you already have.

Give Slate Boss a useful starting point for sourcing replacement material. Begin with safe photos, your project location and the quantity you need.

STEP 1

Show the whole roof

Take an overview from ground level. Include the area you want repaired and a closer zoomed view where possible. Mention whether you need a few replacement pieces or material for a larger restoration.

STEP 2

Show a spare piece

If you already have a loose spare slate, photograph its face, back and edge in daylight. Include a ruler for scale. Do not remove a slate from the roof yourself or climb onto it to collect a sample.

STEP 3

Record what you know

Include length, width, thickness, quantity, project city and ZIP code, and approximate roof age. If you do not know a detail, leave it as unknown. A roofer can help gather information safely.

STEP 4

Compare before ordering

Ask about sample availability, color variation, dimensions, thickness, condition and delivery. A photograph is a starting point; it cannot establish exact quarry origin, material quality or a guaranteed match.

Your matching brief

“My project is in [city / ZIP]. I need approximately [quantity] replacement slates. The existing pieces measure [length × width × thickness, if known]. The roof is approximately [age]. I need materials by [date]. I have photos of [roof / loose spare slate].”
